Hayneville Middle is hosting a Career Fair Feb. 9 at 8:30 a.m.
The event is to be held at Hayneville Middle School inside the gym.
Patricia Fitzpatrick, school counselor at Hayneville Middle, said it’s important for the students to learn more about career fields.
“[The Career Fair] will allow the students to get to know different avenues they can pursue when they graduate from high school, whether it be police, fireman, or judge,” Fitzpatrick said. “It will let them know that there are different avenues that they can do instead of just going to Hyundai and working.”
The event has been put together by the school’s counseling department and will consist of different presenters from different careers who will speak to the students and answer any questions they may have about that specific career field.
The fair will showcase many careers and job opportunities that will be available to the students once they graduate high school.
“It’s very important that students be exposed to different careers and have the opportunity to ask people from these different careers what it takes to do the job. That way they can aspire to do those jobs when they graduate,” Fitzpatrick said.
There are still spots open for people to come out and set up a table to speak about their career. Anyone interested can let Mrs. Fitzpatrick know to save them a spot by calling 334-548-2184.
“A lot of the time students would not know about job opportunities if the career fairs weren’t held,” said Ronda Daniel, librarian at Hayneville Middle. “We want our students to establish connections with working people and to find out more about what they do. The students will also develop a better understanding of job seeking skills, interviewing techniques, and how to interact professionally.”
