On Tuesday, Lowndes County residents in District 3 elected Democrat Fletcher Hayes to represent them as County Commissioner.
Around 8:30 p.m., results from all four precinct boxes were reported, showing Hayes had won the seat with 54%, 380, of the votes cast.
The win places Hayes in the seat currently held by Joshua “Mole” Simmons, who received 321 of 701 votes cast. The Alabama Secretary of State website indicates 35.6% of the district’s 1,975 registered voters turned out for the primary runoff election.
Secretary of State Wes Allen provides election results as a courtesy through partnership with Lowndes County Probate Judge Lashundra Myrick and the county’s election team. According to the website, www2.alabamaqvotes.gov, accuracy of the election results is the responsibility of the Probate Judge for each reporting county.
