A Lowndes County native and University of Alabama (UA) graduate is the focus of a new book by Dr. Christopher Love.
“The Crimson Code: Price of Success” is a biography featuring the life and work of Desmond A. Jackson, grandson of former White Hall Mayor John Jackson and the late Dr. Katie Welch Jackson. He is the son of Ezra O. Allen of Greenville and Nina Allen of White Hall.
Desmond co-authored the book and was scheduled to present it to the Lowndes County community during a book signing Saturday, July 10 at the White Hall Town Hall from 12-3 p.m. The signing has been postponed until August.
“Crimson Code” is a first-person account of legal and political corruption taking place in the corporate world of cybersecurity and one man’s determination to prove his innocence in a scheme to bring down an international conglomerate. The book was released at the University of Alabama on April 27.
Love teaches literature and writing at UA and is the author of two books, several short stories and a variety of essays. The author said ‘Crimson Code’ illuminates real-life events and Jackson’s journey of resilience, determination and the search for justice.
“The book chronicles the saga of Mr. Jackson who finds himself enwrapped in a complex legal web with one of the world’s largest publishing corporations,” Love said. “‘Crimson Code’ reveals the intrigue and intricacies of legal cat-and-mouse suspense as one young man fights to clear his name.”
Desmond is a cybersecurity professional with a mission to share his computer programming skills to identify vulnerabilities in systems. He began programming at the age of 8 and attended Jackson-Steele Elementary School, The Alabama School of Math and Science and Ellison High School in Killeen Texas before graduating from the University of Alabama in 2020.
He enjoys gaming and volunteering in Birmingham by assisting his uncle, Kevin Jackson, with teaching African American youths ages 6 – 19 how to write code and programming.
