Lowndesboro student makes UA honors list

A Lowndesboro native enrolled in the University of Alabama Early College summer 2024 semester has been named to the college’s honors list for the second consecutive year.
Haylon Self attends Lowndes Academy and ranked among 298 students enrolled in UA’s Early College summer semester and named the director’s list with an academic record of 3.6 or higher.
The director’s list recognizes students enrolled in classes in the program that allows high school students to get a head start on their college courses. High school sophomores, juniors and seniors enrolled in can choose from more than 80 different online and on-campus courses within the program and earn up to 30 hours of college credit.
Self attended UA during the 2023 summer semester, making the director’s list for her efforts.
She is a senior at Lowndes Academy where she has been a Rebels’ cheerleader since third grade. She also plays varsity basketball for the Rebels and attends Hayneville Christian Church.
The University of Alabama System is Alabama’s flagship university and the state’s largest institution of higher education.
