The Calhoun School Tigers brought home their second win of the season Friday, dominating the Barbour County Jaguars 46-0.

Calhoun Athletic Director and Head Coach Ervin Starr credited the victory to the team finding its identity.

“We’ve had over 250 yards rushing in both our wins,” Starr said. “It took us a while to find what our identity was as a team.”

The Lions kicked off the season with young freshman quarterback, Robert Sellers, Jr. Starr said an adjustment to bring on senior Tyler Robertson as quarterback helped frame up the team’s focus.

“He was very young,” Starr said. “We probably threw him out there too fast. With a new quarterback, we got down to running the ball and that’s what we needed to do.”

Robertson was instrumental in the Tigers’ shutout win, Starr said. Kaleb Bibb, returning to the field after last season’s knee injury, also got the Tigers on the board.

“Kaleb is definitely our ‘bell cow’ when it comes to running the ball,” Starr said. “We’re [always] going to try to give it to him. He’ll do it until he gets tired, then he’ll take and break and go back in and do it all over again.”

Alongside Robertson and Bibb, senior Keonte Abrams found the endzone. Now at 2-5, Calhoun prepares to host Zion Chapel for homecoming on Oct. 18 with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
