Basketball season has begun and so has voting for the eleventh round of Athlete of the Week. The contest is the community’s opportunity to support the student athletes representing Lowndes County.

Nominated for recognition this week are Myia Porterfield from Central High School, Lowndes Academy’s Zack Azar and Haigler “Tre” Johnson, III, student-athlete at The Calhoun School.

The Lowndes Signal and Lowndes County Athletics are partnering to highlight our young men and women in the Athlete of the Week contest. Thanks to the help of Calhoun Lighthouse, Lowndes Academy and Central High School, Hayneville and our sponsors Blackbelt Unincorporated Wastewater Project and Hayneville QV, we have an opportunity to encourage student-athletes and reward their dedication.
