Corey Hernandez has been voted Lowndes County Athlete of the Week for Week 12. He is a junior at Lowndes Academy. He is an offensive and defensive lineman. He played both sides of the line for the first time in the Rebels’ win over Patrician in the second playoff round, and Coach Shane Moye said, “He did a great job!”
Hernandez earned Athlete of the Week by capturing 82%, 84 out of 103 votes cast in the contest.
Ahmiya Giles from The Calhoun School and Christian Lawrence from Central were also nominated for their athleticism and setting the standard for excellence on and off the field. Congratulations to Giles and Lawrence for being nominated this week.
Athlete of the Week is made possible by the joint efforts of The Lowndes Signal and Lowndes County Public Schools Athletic Director Ervin Starr and sponsors, the Black Belt Unincorporated Wastewater Program and the Hayneville QV, as well as the cooperation of the coaches and administration of Central High School, Lowndes Academy, and The Calhoun School.
