On Friday night, Lowndes Academy could not hold the home-court advantage over the visiting Knights of Macon East as they fell in their basketball season opener, 35-33. Macon East’s success was due to a balanced attack that saw several players step up in the contest. Guard Brandon Fitch led the way by scoring seven points and grabbing seven rebounds. Guard Noah Underwood was also a key player knocking down six points.
The loss leaves Lowndes Academy at 0-1 on the season. Lowndes Academy will host a tournament Dec. 13-14, competing with Southern, Chambers and Morgan teams in matchups tipping off Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
The Rebels will host Hooper Academy in their next regular season games on Jan. 7.
