Community members and volunteers determined to have place for entertainment are cleaning up the area surrounding The Spot in Mosses.

Located on Main Street, citizens of the town gather on an everyday basis, including weekends, to pickup trash and haul off scrap around the establishment.

Front-end loaders and dump-trucks can be seen commuting throughout the area filled with material from the cleanup.

Since it opened about two weeks ago, the sports grill and community center has provided many with a place to hang out, eat, play games and avoid the heat.

Owner Geraldine Grant’s intent for constructing this establishment is to bring revenue and visitors from the surrounding towns and have a safe place for people to meet.

“This business is a multi-community center for everyone,” said Grant. “It is equipped with games, pool tables, televisions and a restaurant.”

Housed in the facility is one pool table, an air hockey and foosball table, but Grant is constantly on the phone lining up additional resources to add to her business.

Mosses’ town council and citizens within the community have recently held meetings to discuss the allowance of a license to sell alcohol at The Spot.

Though the initial request was denied, Grant is seeking other ways through the state to obtain this privilege.

“Hopefully we can add on for other community projects, such as birthday parties, anniversaries, Bible studies and possibly even council meetings,” said Grant.

The Spot also has a VIP area located on the side of the complex which allows people to sit peacefully while children play games and volunteers continue their cleanup efforts outside.

Grant said she would like to have musical artists meet for shows and set up times for talented individuals to show off their skills to various agents in the future.

In addition, the business will have the potential to allow senior citizens a place to host Bingo night and provide adults somewhere to dance or relax, according to Grant.
