The town of Mosses, which is celebrating 33 years of incorporation this week, will receive a $350,000 sewage grant from ADECA at 10 a.m. Thursday on the front lawn of the municipal complex.

The grant will provide sewage-line up for the first 90 Mosses residents’ homes to the city’s sewage system, said Mayor Walter S. Hill.

Hill said the grant is the first of its kind for the Mosses community with regard to eliminating reliance on septic systems.

“It’s been a long-time coming, but the time has finally arrived and we are jubilant and sincerely excited,” Hill said. He said for more than 20 years Mosses residents have felt the pain of financial hardships with the enormous costly repairs and replacement cost in the hundreds to thousands of dollars due to failed septic systems which back-up and many which stopped working completely.”

This grant, he said, will implement the first phase of the overall goal of hooking every house and business in Mosses to the city sewage system.

Hill will receive the grant award from ADECA Director Jim Byard who will be accompanied by other State officials.

In the event of inclement weather, Hill said, the presentation will be held inside the Municipal Complex building.
